Costco Site Plan OK'd for Southern Grove — Three Big Projects Clear Council
Costco Site Plan OK'd for Southern Grove — Three Big Projects Clear Council

Monday's city council session delivered a triple win for Port St. Lucie development! The Costco site plan for Southern Grove got the thumbs up, giving us a major retail anchor that's been on our radar. This isn't just another store—it's the kind of destination that draws people across the entire Treasure Coast.

Same session, same momentum. The Tradition Entertainment District advanced with plans for roughly 85 acres along Village Parkway. We're talking 25+ restaurants, retail, and entertainment options. The first phase brings 40,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space near Innovation Way, with construction expected to kick off soon. This is going to transform how we shop, eat, and spend time together as a community!

And there's more—a proposed rehab hospital also cleared council, expanding our healthcare footprint. These three approvals in one meeting show the city is firing on all cylinders. Infrastructure, retail, dining, and healthcare all advancing together. That's smart growth!

What it means for PSL: Three major projects approved Monday—Costco, entertainment district, and rehab hospital coming to PSL.

What If... PSL Got a Real Fall?
It’s mid-October, the forecast finally dips below 70, and all of Port St. Lucie collectively decides it’s sweater weather.
  • The first 64° morning, every driveway off Port St. Lucie Boulevard has a car idling with the seat warmers on full blast, in a car that has never once used them.
  • Snowbirds land for the season, see everyone in parkas, and ask if their flight got rerouted to Ohio.
  • The HOA sends a 14-page memo on approved fall leaf colors, then realizes every tree in the neighborhood is a palm.
  • Leaf-peeping tours launch along the Savannas Preserve, mostly pointing at the one maple someone planted in 2009.
  • Publix on Tradition Parkway rolls out pumpkin spice everything, plus a “Florida Fall” candle that smells like sunscreen and wet mulch.
  • The Botanical Gardens puts up a “Fall Foliage Viewing Area” sign next to a single croton bush that’s turning slightly red.
  • Local TV goes wall-to-wall: “FIRST ALERT: Long Sleeves Advised Through Thursday.”
