PSL Lands a World Festival & Event City Award
The International Festivals & Events Association named Port St. Lucie one of just seven 2026 World Festival & Event City honorees, sharing the stage with Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, McAllen, Texas, Hawaii's Historic Kailua Village, Pattaya City, Thailand and Muju-Gun, South Korea. The city's Communications Department and Special Events Division also took home Gold Pinnacle Awards for the Eggstravaganza 2026 street banner and the MLK Celebration 2026 printed materials.
Our take: Eggstravaganza now shares a trophy shelf with Philly. If you've ever spread a blanket out for a city event, a little of this one is yours.

City Tests New Water Sensors to Spot Flooding Early
Ahead of last weekend's rain, Port St. Lucie Public Works spent the week clearing drains and grates, and the city says retention pond and canal levels look adequate. Crews are also piloting new water sensors that alert staff the moment water starts rising in flood-prone spots. Next on the list: a larger drainage project for Oak Hammock, which is still in the data-collection phase.
Our take: Sensors that ping crews before the water reaches your driveway? We'll take it. Spot a clogged grate on your street? Tell the city. Those reports help.

PSL Parks Keeps Its National Gold Star
Port St. Lucie Parks & Recreation just earned reaccreditation from CAPRA and the National Recreation and Park Association by meeting all 154 national standards. Only about 220 of the 10,000-plus NRPA agencies hold that accreditation. The department runs about 50 parks and facilities that log more than 5.3 million visits a year.
Our take: That's a lot of pickleball, birthday parties and sunset walks. Nice to know the crew running it gets graded against the best in the country.

City Named a Best Place to Work for the 18th Time
The City of Port St. Lucie was one of nine employers honored at the 25th annual Best Places to Work Awards, the first year the program covered the whole Treasure Coast. It's the city's 18th time on the list. With 1,411 employees, the city is one of the area's bigger employers, and its Community Job Fair drew more than 1,000 people in 2025.
Our take: Hunting for a steady job close to home? The city is big, it hires, and apparently people like working there.

Code Compliance Earns Top National Marks
The city's Code Compliance Division earned its highest-scoring four-star reaccreditation yet from the American Association of Code Enforcement. Port St. Lucie is one of just 11 agencies nationwide with active AACE accreditation, and back in 2020 it became the first in Florida to earn four stars.
Our take: Nobody loves a code notice, but a sharp, well-run team is a big reason PSL neighborhoods keep looking good.
