An Old Citrus Grove Is Now a Nature Trail in Tradition
Mattamy Homes and the City of Port St. Lucie have opened the first phase of a new nature trail on a former citrus grove in Tradition: more than a mile of coquina-shell paths, a boardwalk along an oak hammock, and restored habitat for birds like roseate spoonbills, sandhill cranes and wood storks. Hop on near the south end of Stars and Stripes Park, or from the T-Trail off Village Parkway, south of Telaro. It's open daily, dawn to dusk, and the full trail will stretch about 3.5 miles.
Our take: More shade, less concrete. We'll take it. The public grand opening is Saturday, Nov. 7, 9 to 11 a.m., with nature crafts, a yoga demo and family activities. Bring the kids and the walking shoes.

New Dental Office on Gatlin Teams Up With Veterans
Cap Dental, a family-owned practice run by brothers Dr. Manuel B. Capriles (a former military dentist) and Dr. Manuel A. Capriles, has opened its second office at 1244 SW Gatlin Blvd. The Chamber cut the ribbon Oct. 21. The new office is also partnering with the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund to treat veterans the fund refers and approves, since most vets don't qualify for VA dental care. Appointments are available in English and Spanish, weekdays and Saturdays.
Our take: A local family business opening a second office and looking out for vets in the process? That's the PSL we like to write about. Know a veteran who needs care? Point them to wvrf.org to check eligibility.
